I miss the days when each of the strip properties was its own attraction.

They all had a few special things about them, a unique theme, and something cool or unusual to bring you in the door.

You had talking statues, and the Wizard of Oz and pirate ships firing cannons on the strip.

For years the Mirage was synonymous with Siegfried and Roy and their white tigers.

Coming in from the strip on the people mover, you saw two things right off the bat upon entering Mirage - the white tigers on one side, and the gift shop on the other.

The decision to de-theme a lot of the resorts was like taking wild animals out of their natural home and putting them in a fake environment behind a glass enclosure.

Perhaps someday resorts will once again put some of the magic back into the Vegas resorts and put up some talking statues or something that people can go and see for free.
