Bally's website says it is the TEQUILA TAQUERIA BAR & GRILL.
OK, I get it!
I ordered the chicken fajitas. What an interesting combination of great things and not so great things!
It was a pretty huge meal, and I was starvin' so I ate almost everything. The chicken, onions and peppers were delicious. The refried beans weren't very hot. The tortillas had been microwaved and quickly turned hard as rock. Boo for that.
There was some sort of huge cob thing on the plate, and I asked the server if it was edible, or just an overgrown garnish.
She said, "It's one of the best things we make."
And holy guacamole, she was right! Sweet corn, with some sort of cheezy goodness added, and dusted in some sort of spice. I've never had anything like it before.
Here's a bit of weirdness. I asked for some heat - sauce or something. I got brought two supermarket hot sauces. Ho hum. So, I asked for jalapenos.
They don't have jalapenos.
Mexican food and they don't have jalapenos?
Nope. I got offered Serrano peppers instead, and even they had no heat to them. I ate them all.
Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable meal.
After that, I played a keno ticket and some penny 100 play. I actually met with some success hitting Aces kicker a few times on Triple Double.
But by the time I stumbled back to the room... my pockets were dead empty.
In Texas, Mexican corn is often served with mayonnaise and spices. One place uses jalapeno tartar sauce and its fantastic!
ReplyDeleteEven in the Latin Mecca of Wisconsin, Elote is very common in Mexican restaurants and the Wisconsin State Fair. Roasted corn with a slurry of mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese, dusted with salt and paprika... add a dash of cayenne pepper to get the nasal juices flowing.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff.
