Day 2 part 2 - I took a few minutes to just try to get my motivational reward center moving again. The fact that I was hungry helped.
Everybody's got a hungry help, right?
I couldn't just stay in the Cabinette moping. I was not going to get to go to the fancy restaurant tonight.
What then?
I put on my normal shoes, checked 482 times that I had my stupid fucking Sign and Sail card with me, and headed out. The hallway seemed like it stretched on forever.
Actually, it did and it does.
My very good pal Blue Skadoo has given me good advice including Don't Eat Dinner At The Buffet.
With that still burning in my retinas, I walked way aft, took the elevator to deck 10, and walked to the buffet.
I had something in mind that I thought would cheer me up.
Yes, a cheese steak.
I ordered one up, and while it was making, loaded up a bowl with salad, heavy on the prizes.
This cheese steak was not going to be sandwiched. It was hot, fresh, juicy and man oh man was it delicious!
Having taken some calories on board, I felt a little better.
And a couple of booster donations steered me. One for Buffallllllllllo! Thank you R.H. And one for Super Slutty Bilge Times Pay. Thank you Casey Jones!
So, yeah. I went back to the casino. And upon walking in, I noticed that the craps table had lots of empty spots.
It's been ages since I played dice, and I was actually pretty rusty on the right bets to make to get the payouts correct.
It is a $10 table, and I bought in for $100 with my card. I guess I'll have to eat the $3 vig.
I lost a couple of bets and then the dice came to me. And man, did I throw the numbers! I made a point of 4. Threw three sevens in a row. And then went on about a 15 roll beauty. I had the point with odds and the six and eight placed. They came in about 6 or 7 times.
At one point, a roar went up amongst the players - I'd hit the All Small (which I have never bet on, and didn't). One guy won $300 and another won $1200.
I finally crapped out to cheers, but do you think all those players who'd made so much money sent any my way? Nope, not even a nickel. You make $1200 on a guy's roll, you think you'd flip a green or two his way. Nope.
I stayed at the table for an hour and a half, and it (along with a bunch of Woodford's on the rocks) was just the tonic I needed. It was up and down as craps generally goes, but I coloured up a winner.
Next it was time to take on the VP and slots again.
I made a tiny bit at Super Times Pay - more importantly, I didn't lose! And I had luck at Buffalo as well, making a few bucks at that.
And that was that. Boy did it feel good to have a winning night.
I felt happy enough to resurrect one photo from the delete bin.
Nobody else is going to see this but you.
So sorry to hear about your wife! I guess I hadn't checked in for a while. Too busy with Youtube and Tik Tok I guess. I had read your trip reports for years. They were legendary! I also used to enjoy the Live life on a shelf girl. She is funny AF!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Sorry to hear it was ALS. My friend passed from that 25 years ago. That lead to me volunteering on the ALS Toronto board of directors before they all amalgamated provincially and nationaly. Suffice to say I know how fucking devastating that diagnosis is.
I gave up Vegas a few years ago after my partner passed. I recently took up cruising! Four in the last 18 months.
Your friend is right! Comps come fast. I cruise the Mediteranian..I live in the Caribbean and I'm avoiding the USA right now.
Won't tell you it gets easier...but I'm better at managing the grief. The ball in the box is getting smaller and hits the pain button less.
Looking forward to the rest of the report!
I feel better! Happy the night ended well. Those are your new lucky socks 😄
